Hartford Family Wines - Chardonnay Tasting Notes
The Seascape Vineyard Chardonnay typically shows orange blossom and citrus oil aromas, keen acidity with lemon drop flavors and underlying mineral notes. The multifaceted aromas, grilled peach flavors and dense mouth feel are knit together by centered acidity and a long, complex candied apricot finish. This amazing wine is truly a unique expression of terroir along the western edge of Sonoma County.

Acclaim
94 Points - "High acidity marks this vibrant wine, which is from one of Kendall-Jackson's coolest coastal vineyards. The crispness lends a vibrant tension to the intense flavors of Meyer lemons, orange blossom and minerals, while oak adds softer, spicy notes. Feels racy and nervy all through, in a delicious way." - Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast, July 2009
92 Points - "Bright gold. Powerful scents of papaya, pear skin and tangerine, with a strong mineral underpinning. Sharply focused citrus and orchard fruit flavors pack a serious punch and gain a smoky mineral and floral character with air that repeats on the lingering finish. This is the most vibrant of this set of chardonnays." - Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May 2009

Vineyard Character
Seascape Vineyard is a six-acre site on a scenic ridge top west of the town of Occidental in the Sonoma Coast AVA. .e vineyard abuts an old redwood grove and faces cascading ridges to Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean. .e well-known Coastlands Vineyard also borders the property. Because there is no ridge between the ocean and the vineyard, Seascape is an extremely cold spot – so cold that Chardonnay is often picked in November. .e vineyard is cropped to about two tons per acre to ensure thorough ripening. Although a challenging spot to farm, the reward at Seascape is Chardonnay grapes brimming with personality and a very distinctive terroir.
