2007 Hartford Court Pinot Noir
MacLean's Block, Russian River Valley
Tasting Notes
Dark berry, dark chocolate and earth aromas are complemented by concentrated black cherry and black
raspberry .avors in this promising new release. Along with the wonderfully extroverted flavor profile, a supple
and dense mid-palate texture and long cinnamon-spice finish suggest that this inaugural release will be an
excellent candidate for long term cellaring.
Vineyard Character
MacLean's Block Pinot Noir is named after Don and Jennifer Hartford's son MacLean. MacLean was about a
year old when the vineyard was planted, and he is now 12. MacLean loves the vineyard site and its surrounding
forest that is home to cougars, bobcats, wild turkey and red tail hawks.
MacLean's Block is located among redwood trees within an estate owned hillside vineyard located on a beautiful
eastern facing slope off of Harrison Grade and Bones roads near the small, Russian River Valley town of
Occidental. MacLean's Block was planted to Dijon 667 and 777 selections of Pinot Noir. The Block's soil is
locally famous Goldridge fine sandy loam soil which is known for its fluffy 'moon dust-like' texture. The Block
looks out over the Russian River Valley and Santa Rosa Plain below. The block produces very powerful and
complex pinot noir with signature earth, cherry and kirsch-like aromas and flavors along with notes of dark
chocolate, cinnamon, allspice and clove.
