2022 Hartford Hartford Vineyard Zinfandel

96 POINTS

"Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Hartford Zinfandel soars with notes of rose oil, star anise, kirsch, and raspberry pie leading to a core of stewed red plums and incense. The medium to full-bodied palate has a refreshing backbone and lightly chewy texture, finishing with lovely purity and a red berry lift. Don and Jennifer Hartford tend this head-trained vineyard in the backyard of their home. Planted over 100 years ago, the Hartford Vineyard’s vines are the lowest yielding of all of their Old Vine Zinfandel vineyards."   - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent, April 2024

2023 Hartford Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard Zinfandel

94 Points

"A deeper ruby/magenta color, there’s more Petite Sirah in the field blend for the 2023 Zinfandel Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard, which has darker, more intense notes of cigar box, blackberries, cherry preserve, dark spices, lavender, and mossy forest earth. The palate is full-bodied, with ripe tannins, even acidity, and a broader feel on the finish. It has a deeper tannin structure and a bit more richness of earth and grip on the finish, with a slightly more rustic feel to its structure, but it’s well-balanced and can handle richer marbled steak and braised meat " - Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, July 2025

2023 Hartford Highwire Vineyard Zinfandel

94 Points

"A darker magenta/ruby color, the 2023 Zinfandel Highwire Vineyard has more depth, with notes of espresso, black cherry liqueur, graphite, cracked pepper, and polished leather. The palate is tangy and ripe with full-bodied richness and an underlying coating texture, with ripe tannins and a plush feel on the finish. There’s more depth and complexity to this wine, and I would be interested in revisiting it in a few years as it sheds its more primary fruit and develops more interesting spice and mineral tones. Drink 2026-2038" - Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, July 2025
