2019 Hartford Court Radian Vineyard Chardonnay

95 Points -

"Barrel fermented and matured in 22% new French oak for 14 months. Youthfully shy on the nose to begin, it opens slowly to spring blossoms, quince and white peaches. Medium-bodied and silky, it slowly unfurls its rich, ripe citrus fruits and floral layers, with seamless freshness and a touch of texture that draws out the long finish. " – Erin Brooks, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, July 2022

Tasting Notes

The wine opens with a beautiful aroma of white flowers that is complemented by hints of lemon oil and salty ocean air. The combination of cool climate and poor soils lead to a mouthfeel that consists of a complex, layered texture and lively acidity.

Vineyard & Vintage Character

The Sta. Rita Hills is situated in a transverse range, meaning the mountains lie east-west and not north to south, like most mountain ranges on the Pacific Coast. Cold ocean winds and fog therefore easily travel into the valley and cools it down considerably. 2019 is our third vintage of the Radian Vineyard Chardonnay. The vineyard is situated on the western edge of this unique AVA, on a dramatic, steep slope. Soils in the area are very poor, with elevated calcium levels due to an abundance of ancient sea creature fossils.
