"The 2022 Three Jacks Vineyard Chardonnay bursts from the glass with bold notes of apple sauce, poached pears, and nutmeg followed by hints of ginger snaps and honeycomb. The medium to full-bodied palate is so creamy and spicy, with well-knit freshness and a long and gingery finish. Three Jacks Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from a small vineyard in the heart of the Green Valley in the Russian River Valley AVA. It was planted in 1995 to four clonal selections: Old Wente, Rued, Dijon 95, and Clone 15." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent, April 2024
Tasting Notes
The Three Jacks Vineyard Chardonnay exhibits aromas of lemon curd, orange marmalade, and brioche, with juicy flavors of pear, candied citrus peel, chamomile, and a rich, mineral-driven texture. The wine is full-bodied, weighty, and rich yet remarkably agile on its feet because of firm underlying acidity.

Vineyard & Vintage Character
The 2022 Chardonnays are bright, complex and layered. Three Jacks Vineyard is a small vineyard in the heart of the Green Valley of Russian River Valley AVA farmed by the Dutton family. Hartford Family Winery has a long history with this vineyard; we bottled it as a designated vineyard from 1999 through 2004, and are delighted to once again be working with the fruit, starting with the 2012 vintage.
The vineyard is located on Graton Road next to the Dutton Shop, and is known to most as “Triple JS—the name derived from the partnership of the owners—Joe, Juan, Jose and Steve. It was planted in 1995 to four clonal selections: old Wente, Rued, Dijon 95. Clone 15 and 809. The name Three Jacks was coined in a barrel tasting with the 1999 vintage and has stuck ever since.
